Cherita Daugherty may have got the better of Beyonce Bea in the scoring column, but it was Bea’s Idaho Vandals that got the win.

In a matchup of former All-Region players of the year, Washougal High grad Bea had 13 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots as the Vandals won the Big Sky Conference game over Southern Utah 69-64 on Friday at Moscow, Idaho.

Daugherty, a Prairie High grad, led Southern Utah with 18 points. She also had nine rebounds and four assists in what was the Thunderbirds’ first conference game.

Bea was named The Columbian’s All-Region player of the year in 2019, and Daugherty in 2015.

Idaho is now 5-4 overall, 4-1 in the Big Sky. Southern Utah is 3-3 overall.

The two will square off again at 6 p.m. Saturday at Moscow.
