A Vancouver man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning in Longview.

The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, Cowlitz County Dive Rescue, Longview Police Department, Washington State Parol and Longview Fire Department responded at 8:41 a.m. to Mt. Solo and Willow Grove Connection roads for a report of a vehicle on its top in the adjacent slough.

An occupant of the vehicle managed to escape and made his way to the road, according to a news release from the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling south on Mt. Solo Road and failed to stop at the intersection with Willow Grove Connection Road. It continued through the intersection, left the road and came to rest in the slough, the news release states.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Nathaniel Mingefiiy, was found dead, seat belted inside the vehicle, deputies said.

Toxicology results are pending, according to the sheriff’s office.
