Clark County reports 37 new COVID-19 cases and one death Wednesday

New Public Health data shows COVID-19 test positivity rate fell to 5.18 percent in early February

Clark County reported 37 new COVID-19 cases and one new death Wednesday as testing data shows a continued decline in disease activity, according to Clark County Public Health.

The fatality was a woman in her 70s with underlying health conditions, according to Public Health data. Her death puts the number of Clark County deaths from COVID-19 at 222. Three deaths have been reported since Friday. Seven deaths were reported in the previous week.

The 37 new cases put the county’s total at 18,172 cases to date. There has been an average of 37 new cases a day reported since Friday, about the same as the average of 36 cases a day in the previous week.

The data was reported as Public Health reported a positivity rate of 5.18 percent for COVID-19 tests administered between Jan. 31 and Feb. 6. The county reported 392 positive tests out of 7,567 administered.

There were 253 active cases as of Wednesday, up from 245 on Tuesday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations fell, with 29 people hospitalized with COVID-19, down from 34 on Tuesday, and four people hospitalized awaiting test results, up from one on Tuesday.
