Crews from the Vancouver Fire Department are battling a major house fire in east Vancouver this evening.
The fire was reported at about 7:38 p.m. at 12311 S.E. McGillivray Blvd., according to dispatch records. Seven apparatus were dispatched to the scene.
Photos shared on social media show flames coming through the roof of what appears to be a single-story house. At one point, firefighters inside the structure issued a mayday call. They were evacuated safely, and crews have since been working to battle the fire from the exterior of the house.
