RIDGEFIELD — The Ridgefield High School cheerleading squad found a way to entertain themselves while stuck at home during the pandemic by playing a socially distanced game called “yard sign tag.” The team created two yard signs reading “Tag, You’re It!” with a photo of the Spudder mascot, with polka dots in blue and orange, the school colors. Cheerleading coaches Alyssa Tomillo and Anja Felton started the game just before winter break, distributing the signs to the first two cheerleaders. Each cheerleader who found a sign in their yard posted a picture online so others could see they had been tagged. Then that person had to find a cheerleader who hadn’t been tagged yet and get the sign to their yard. The signs moved quickly from house to house and the stream of photos got longer and longer. “It was a fun way for us to work together as a team, even when we couldn’t be together in person,” Tomillo said in a news release.
