Susan G. Komen Oregon and SW Washington will be closing on March 31.

The decision was tied to Susan G. Komen’s national leadership announcement in April that it will consolidate its entire affiliate network into “One Komen,” according to a press release.

After March 31, Komen National will direct activities in Portland and Southwest Washington. All money raised in the Oregon and Southwest Washington region will go to Susan G. Komen in Dallas, Texas, and benefit national programs and services.

Komen Oregon and SW Washington closed its physical office space in downtown Portland last spring. The last day for most local staff will be Feb. 19. Some staff will stay on through March to oversee the logistics and consolidation of local programs.

Susan G. Komen Oregon and SW Washington will donate more than $200,000 to community partners to either continue the work Komen Oregon and SW Washington began or to further enhance their own work.

“We know this change is upsetting. We deeply empathize with you,” Susan G. Komen Oregon and SW Washington CEO Andrew Asato said. “This organization has been a place of support, friendship and family during some of the hardest times in our lives, and it is with a heavy heart that we deliver this news.”
