A fugitive who escaped custody Tuesday morning near the jail in downtown Vancouver was located and detained following a brief manhunt.
Shortly after 9 a.m., law enforcement began searching for someone who ran as he was being taken to the Clark County Jail for failing to adhere to drug court rules, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
The individual was reportedly somewhere in the downtown area, wearing handcuffs, according to radio traffic.
Police tweeted that the person had been captured around 10:50 a.m. Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email that officers assisted the Clark County Sheriff’s Office during the search. Deputies located and took the person back into custody, she said.
Attempts to reach the sheriff’s office for more information were unsuccessful.
