Letter: Economy is booming

I’m mystified why the mainstream media outlets aren’t trumpeting how great the economy is doing. U.S. economic output jumped 7 percent in the last three months. Overall economic growth is at 6 percent. Our economy improved more in Biden’s first 12 months than any president in the last 50 years.

This administration has so far created more than 4.1 million jobs, more than were created in the 12 years of the Trump and George W. Bush administrations combined. Wages in America are growing at about 4 percent a year as states increase minimum wage and unions are driving employers to pay more to workers.

American consumers have supported U.S. companies, which are showing profit margins higher than they’ve been since 1950. Gas prices have dropped below $3 a gallon in 12 states. In 36 U.S. cities, gas prices have fallen 25 cents per gallon in the past 30 days. Ninety-nine percent of packages are arriving on time. Major ports in the U.S. will process almost 20 percent more containers than they did in 2019. Consumer goods are being bought at a rate about 45 percent higher than in 2018.

More major news outlets should report the good news.
