An east Vancouver man was shot at early this morning after interrupting a suspected car prowler in his driveway, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a statement, the man saw a suspect on his surveillance camera prowling cars in his driveway about 3:30 a.m. near Northeast 165th Avenue and 32nd Street, just east of Vancouver city limits.

The man confronted the suspect and the suspect ran away, with the homeowner following on foot, according to the statement. The suspect fell and while getting back up, fired one shot at the homeowner.

The suspect then fled on foot.

According to the sheriff’s office, during the investigation, other surveillance videos showed there were as many as three suspects prowling cars in the area.

Deputies believe there are other theft victims in the neighborhood. Anyone with information or surveillance video which could assist in identifying suspects should contact Deputy Currier at michael.currier@clark.wa.gov.
