For the next 12 months, C-Tran riders will pay less to ride the bus or use C-Van. The C-Tran Board of Directors unanimously approved a temporary fare reduction for 2022 on Tuesday. It will go into effect Jan. 1.

“The temporary fare reduction is primarily focused on easing the burden of transportation for those who continue to rely on C-Tran, and for those who may return to our system during the next year,” read a press release from the agency.

Local bus fares will drop from $1.80 to $1 per ride for adults. Adult Express fares will drop from $3.85 to $2.50 per ride. C-Van fares will drop from $1.80 to $1, and some honored and youth fares will also be discounted. Regional fares and daily and monthly caps in the Hop Fastpass system will not change.

When the reductions take effect, Hop Fastpass cards will be automatically programmed to charge the lower rates on corresponding C-Tran routes.
