Clark County’s sales tax revenue up

Construction, changes in shopping habits have contributed to 20% rise

From wearing masks nearly everywhere to shortages of certain foods, electronics and household products, the pandemic brought with it a long list of annoyances in 2021.

But there is at least one silver lining: Sales tax revenue for the year is up across the county.

“It’s up about 20 percent, year over year,” said Mark Gassaway, finance director for Clark County.

At the start of the pandemic in March and April 2020, Gassaway said, the county’s economy clamped down.
