Clark County Fire District 3 responded to a structure fire in northeast Battle Ground at 510 N.E. Third Ave. around 7:45 p.m. Friday.
Fire District 3 and Clark-Cowlitz Fire crews worked to diminish a garage fire, where there were exploding ammunition and venting propane tanks, according to Fire District 3. First responders mitigated the hazards and prevented the fire from spreading to the attached house. They faced difficulties due to fallen power lines that were caused by the fire’s heat.
All five residents were able to evacuate their home and received assistance from the American Red Cross. There were no reported injuries, according to Fire District 3 Captain Jason Mansfield. However, one dog died in the fire.
The damage to the 1,792-square-foot home is estimated to be about $150,000.
Mansfield said the fire is currently under investigation by the fire marshal, yet it appeared to have occurred naturally.
