WOODLAND — Drivers heading south on Interstate 5 through Woodland should expect to encounter congestion and delays this weekend, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews with a WSDOT contractor will be performing pavement rehabilitation work along a two-mile stretch of the southbound freeway between the North Fork Lewis River and East Fork Lewis River at the north edge of Clark County.

Single-lane closures will be in place throughout the weekend, according to WSDOT, and nighttime double-lane closures may occur on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The closures will allow for paving, striping and drainage work, with the goal of reopening all three lanes next week.

The work is part of an ongoing $7.6 million rehabilitation project scheduled for completion in the fall.
