Casino patrons get Johnson & Johnson vaccine

RIDGEFIELD — Visitors to ilani had the opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccine two weekends in a row on July 24 and July 31. Unused doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine were provided by the VA Northwest Health Network and VISN 20 to avoid wasting them prior to their expiration date. Twelve people were vaccinated at the first clinic. “With demand for vaccines almost at a standstill … our staff is absolutely determined and 100 percent committed to getting shots in the arms of as many community members as possible” said Dr. Teresa Boyd, network director, VISN 20 said in a news release. Patrons were offered $10 in Casino Promo Play if they got the shot. “We are thrilled by this first partnership and hoping it spurs interest from other potential community partners,” Boyd said in the release.
