Vancouver Waterfront Park event to mark 9/11 20th anniversary

An event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack will be held at Vancouver Waterfront Park.

The ceremony will be hosted by the city of Vancouver and the Community Military Appreciation Committee (CMAC) and feature the Vancouver Fire and Police Honor Guard, musical performances, a ceremonial bell ringing, Vancouver Veterans of Foreign Wars rifle salute, a water spray display on the Columbia River by the Vancouver Fire Department’s fire boat Discovery, and a release of doves from a World War II boat on the Columbia River.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. The park is at 695 Waterfront Way. More information about the final program will be provided closer to the event date. For updates, visit cityofvancouver.us/911PatriotDay.
