SEATTLE — Vancouver iTech Preparatory School history teacher John Zingale was the keynote speaker at the Sons of the American Revolution National Congress, where he addressed 350 members from all 50 states and international locations. He was honored by the Sons of the American Revolution as a National History Teacher of the Year.

Zingale discussed how he and his students have worked closely with the Fort Vancouver Historic Site in establishing an online learning tool for people to tour the property and see historical artifacts.

“Middle school students are trying to figure out who they are and how they fit into this world,” Zingale said in a news release. “Understanding our nation’s history and the consequences of decisions made is valuable in forming their outlook for the future. We essentially challenge them to become historians themselves.”
