WASHOUGAL — A Panthers Rising event at Washougal High School celebrated seniors and their post-graduate journey, be it internships, apprenticeships, college, trade school, military or otherwise. Students received yard signs with logos of whatever institution or program they would be headed to.
The June 10 celebration was live streamed for the entire student body and their parents, while pre-recorded congratulations from college and program recruiters played on a big screen.
“Every student in this gym has shown the resiliency, grit and determination needed to be college and career ready, and today we celebrate you and your accomplishments,” the high school’s principal, Sheree Clark, said in a news release.
The first Panthers Rising event was held in 2019. It was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Part celebration of the future and part inspiration for underclassmen, it is now a new Washougal tradition,” the release noted.
