Gov. Jay Inslee will be in Vancouver on Friday to announce Clark College’s newest programs endorsed by the state’s Career Launch program and visit a COVID-19 vaccination site on campus organized by the college.

Inslee will be part of a roundtable discussion hearing from Clark students, instructors and businesses involved with Career Launch, a state program that’s part of Career Connect Washington to provide students with opportunities for both classroom learning and paid work experience.

Recently, the 2021-23 biennial budget provided additional resources and funding to expand Career Connect Washington, which has launched 76 programs since its inception in 2018.

Inslee will announce the two newest programs to be endorsed Friday: Surveying and Bakery and Pastry Arts. Clark has developed four Career Launch programs — semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, two automotive technology programs and engineering — and plans to apply for additional Career Launch endorsements in cybersecurity, cuisine management and welding.

Afterward, Inslee will visit the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Clark’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics building where 200 boxes of the Pfizer vaccines will be administered to Clark students, employees and their families.
