Prep Basketball Roundup: Battle Ground snaps 21-game league skid

Tigers earn first GSHL win in more than three years

The Battle Ground girls basketball team scored its first league win in more than three years Tuesday, beating Evergreen 44-26 in a 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League game.

Mallory Meyer scored 23 points to lead the Tigers, whose last league win was Jan. 9, 2018 against Heritage, a span of 21 games.

Meyer scored 15 of her team’s 17 points in the third quarter as Battle Ground improved to 1-2.

Coarleigh Speer scored 11 points to lead Evergreen (0-3).

UNION 75, SKYVIEW 36 — Abbey Kaip scored 18 points as the Titans launched a barrage from outside.

Union (3-0) made 14 3-pointers, with Kaip and Caitlyn Leake each hitting four. Leake and Olivia Euverman each scored 12 points.

Rowyn Riley led Skyview (2-1) with 14 points.

KELSO 50, MOUNTAIN VIEW 34 — Natalie Fraley scored 12 of her 24 points in the third quarter as the Lassies cruised to a road win.

Evermore Kaiser added 14 points for Kelso (2-1), which stretched a 28-20 halftime lead to 41-27 after three quarters.

Victoria Schneider scored 16 points and Katelyn Henderson added 11 for the Thunder (1-2).

Boys basketball

BATTLE GROUND 67, EVERGREEN 51 — Kaden Perry scored 25 points, Ty Robertson added 16 and the strong-finishing Tigers won at home.

Leading 32-27 at halftime, Battle Ground (2-1) took control by outscoring the Plainsmen 15-7 in the third quarter. Five different Tigers scored to fuel that run.

Jaden Stanley scored 20 points to lead Evergreen (1-2).
