WASHOUGAL — The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Camas-Washougal marked Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month during April by planting pinwheel gardens throughout Camas and Washougal. The two cities signed proclamations to help raise awareness about child abuse prevention.

“This is such an important issue that I feel passionate about raising awareness and getting the word out to our communities,” Susan Bennett, vice president of the federation, said in a news release.

“We want families to know that there are resources and places to find help,” said Christine Kamps, the club’s president.

Unite! Washougal Community Coalition, a substance-misuse prevention organization, helped with the pinwheel project to plant gardens. Both organizations are seeking new members who want to volunteer, learn new skills and serve their communities.
