Sophie Reyes had a big day at the plate, belting a home run and driving in five runs as Columbia River beat Woodland 7-3 in a 2A Greater St. Helens League softball game Friday.
After Woodland took a 2-0 lead on runs in the first and third inning, Reyes came to the plate with two on in the bottom of the third and belted the ball over the center-field fence for a three-run home run.
Woodland tied the game with a run in the top of the fifth. Then River (4-0 in the 2A GSHL) loaded the bases and Reyes drove home two more runs on a single to left. The Rapids would score four in the inning.
Halley Jordan went 3 for 4 for the Rapids, and Gabby Ventura went 2 for 3 with a double.
Coco MacDonald went 3 for 4 with two doubles for Woodland (2-1), and Emily Hughes was 2 for 3 with a double, triple and two RBI.
Seton boys win Trico
Elijah Volk lead a five-place sweep in the pole vault for Seton Catholic as the Cougars captured the boys team title at the Trico League track and field championship.
Volk cleared 11 feet, 6 inches. Teammate Koen Ross was second at 9-feet. Ross also won the 3,200 meters in 10 minutes, 48 seconds.
Max Eline won the 400 meters as the Cougars depth helped them outdistance King’s Way Christian 133.5-96.5 for the team title.
La Center’s Davari Grauer won the 100 and 200 meters, teammate Spencer Holm won the 800 and 1,600.
Other dual-event winners included Castle Rock’s Isaac Trigsted (long jump, high jump) and Juan Acosta of Columbia-White Salmon (shot put, discus).
Columbia-White Salmon won the girls team title in a very competitive meet. The Bruins, who won all three relays, scored 109 to outdistance Seton Catholic (105) and La Center (103).
La Center freshman Shaela Bradley won the 100 meters (12.64), 200 (25.98) and long jump (16-2.5).
Seton Catholic’s Lara Carrion won the 1,600 and 3,200, and Castle Rock’s Brooke Wirkkala wwon the triple jump and the high jump.

• Sawyer Parkin, Columbia River baseball, pitched a complete-game one-hitter and allowed just two Mark Morris baserunners while striking out 12 with no walks in a 3-0 victory.
• Maggie Skinner, Hockinson softball, struck eight over five innings and hit a home run in a 12-1 win over Hudson’s Bay.
• Piper Rylander, Columbia River girls tennis, completed a 3-0 week at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Hockinson.
• J’Quan Collins, Fort Vancouver boys track and field, won four events — 110 hurdles (16.51), 300 hurdles (47.30), long jump (19-3) and triple jump (37-4) in a meet against R.A. Long.
• Jason Bowman, Woodland boys track and field, won three events, including season-best marks in the shot put (53-10.5) and javelin (166-11.5) in a meet against Hockinson.
• Samuela Kaumatule, Columbia River boys track and field, won the javelin (142-4.5), high jump (5-6) and ran on the winning 400 relay in win over Washougal.
• Lauren Bennett, Washougal track and field, won the 100 hurdles (17.62), 300 hurdles (52.64) and triple jump (33-3.75) in a win over Columbia River.
• Kathryn Chapin, R.A. Long girls track and field, won the 100 (13.18), 200 (28.02) and pole vault (8-0) in a win over Fort Vancouver.
• Miranda Bergquist, R.A. Long softball, went 3 for 4 with one of R.A. Long’s four home runs in a 8-5 win over Mark Morris.
• Lucy George, Woodland girls track and field, won the shot put (37-10.5), javelin (115-2) and 100 hurdles (15.44) in a win over Hockinson.
