The Humane Society for Southwest Washington will host the Walk/Run for the Animals on May 1, the 30th anniversary of this event. This year’s in-person event will follow a socially distanced looped path through downtown Vancouver. Dogs and kids are welcome to join registered participants. The route will offer seven stops with food, beverages, freebies and entertainment from event partners and sponsors. Walkers can begin at 9 a.m. or start later in the day, but the route closes at 3 p.m. Masks are required for all participants.

Participants can also run a 5K any time April 26 to the end of the day on May 1; run times may be submitted online via a web form or through a text message. Registered walkers and runners will receive an event bag and a 30-year anniversary medal and they’re also encouraged to upload photos of their race to the Humane Society’s race photo gallery. Those who can’t participate are welcome to donate directly to the Humane Society for Southwest Washington at southwesthumane.org/donate.

Individual registration fees are $45 through April 25, $50 from April 26 to April 30 or $55 on event day, May 1. Kids 12 and under can run or walk for free with a registered adult. Teams are also invited to register. For complete information, visit southwesthumane.org.
