Prep basketball roundup: Perry scores 30 as Battle Ground beats Kelso

Kaden Perry scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter as Battle Ground pulled away for a 59-40 win over Kelso on Thursday.

The Tigers led 39-33 after three quarters. Then Perry, a 6-foot-9 senior center bound for Gonzaga, took over.

Perry hit six field goals and one free throw as the Tigers outscored Kelso 20-7 in the fourth quarter.

Max Ramirez added 12 points for Battle Ground in its season opener in the 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League.

Chase Johnson scored 10 points for visiting Kelso (0-2).

EVERGREEN 63, MOUNTAIN VIEW 62 — Jaden Stanley scored 26 points as the Plainsmen opened their season by edging Mountain View on the road.

Stanley scored eight of his team’s 19 points in the fourth quarter. Jaylen Fite added 13 points, including a key 3-pointer in the fourth.

Austin Lee scored 22 points and Isaiah Vargas added 20 for Mountain View (0-2). Vargas made four 3-pointers.

UNION 71, PRAIRIE 31 — Kaden Horn scored 25 points as the sharp-shooting Titans handily won their season opener.

Izaiah Vongnath added 20 points, hitting five 3-pointers. Union made 14 3-pointers, with Horn also hitting five.

The Titans ran away with the game in the third quarter, outscoring Prairie 20-1.

Hayden Rose scored 10 points for the Falcons (1-1).

Girls basketball

KELSO 49, BATTLE GROUND 27 — Natalie Fraley scored 21 points as Kelso rode a strong defensive effort to a road win.

The Lassies (1-1) took control in the second quarter, outscoring Battle Ground 16-4 to open a 30-13 lead.

Mallory Meyer scored nine points and Candice Adams added eight for the Tigers (0-1).

MOUNTAIN VIEW 50, EVERGREEN 41 — Victoria Schneider scored 17 points to lead the fast-starting Thunder to a road win.

Sydney Horton added 15 points for Mountain View (1-1), which led 18-5 after the first quarter.

Hilary Yoon scored 14 points and Coarleigh Speer added 11 for Evergreen (0-1).
