Let’s catch up and see how much rain fell in March around the area from your friends and neighbors. Rob Starr, Cougar, 6.96 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, 1.49 inches; Larry Lebsack, Barberton, 2.41 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 2.76 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 4.48 inches; Judy Weber, Fargher Lake/View area, 4.15 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 2.87 inches; Judy Darke, Felida, 1.57 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha, 1.82 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 2.74 inches; Rick Krahn, Camas, 2.50 inches; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 1.40 inches; and Dave Campbell, one mile west of Heisson, 7.81 inches. Our neighbor in Vancouver, B.C., Roland Derksen, recorded 3.63 inches. The official rainfall for Vancouver was 1.43 inches, 2.14 inches below average.

After a pair of 83 degree high temperatures Saturday and Sunday, Vancouver cooled Monday to 73 degrees, which is still some ten degrees above average. Today and Wednesday we warm into the mid to upper 70s with light easterly winds once again.

Seems like no end of this unusual weather, doesn’t it? It may come to an end this weekend as most forecast charts show a weather system anchored off our coastline with an onshore flow of air with the typical April showers back in the forecast. How much rain is uncertain at the moment.

If you have outdoor chores that require dry weather, get them done by Friday. We knew the showers would return. Folks in Montana who enjoyed 70 degree weather over the weekend had an arctic front move through Sunday night into Monday with temperatures in the 20s and 8 to 12 inches of snow. That same front is responsible for easterly winds resulting in our warmer and drier air today and Wednesday.

Our high of 73 degrees Monday was well short of the record 87 degrees in 1934 so it can get quite hot in April. Our low Monday of 43 degrees was far from the record low of 26 degrees set in 1977. Enjoy the 70 degree readings for a couple of days and no worry of frosts.
