WASHOUGAL — Sandi Onstwedder, president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, recently toured Southwest Washington during a three-day visit. She was honored at a dinner at the Black Pearl on April 6.

Joining her at the dinner were members of the Camas-Washougal VFW Auxiliary 4278, the Toutle VFW Auxiliary 10882, Vancouver 7824 and other members from auxiliaries across the state.

Following a short welcome and presentation of a City Proclamation by Washougal Mayor Molly Coston at the dinner, Onstwedder said she has a goal of listening more to members. She recently helped organize a Stars, Stripes and Support focus on combating food insecurity among veterans, service members and their families.

“Respecting all veterans while honoring our mission to serve veterans should be our No. 1 priority,” she said, according to a news release.
