CLARK COUNTY – The Vancouver Fire Department is working with several agencies at the local, state and federal levels to help with the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
“The Vancouver Fire Department is honored to be able to support our community in the vaccination effort,” Fire Chief Brennan Blue said. “All of us have been affected by this terrible pandemic in one way or another, so when I asked our members if they were willing to participate in this endeavor, the answer was a resounding yes.”
The department has two emergency-trained personnel on standby at the Tower Mall drive-through vaccination site to treat anyone who may have a reaction to a vaccine, which is rare. They also visit group homes designated by the state Department of Health to administer the vaccine. However, the Vancouver Fire Department does not carry the vaccine.
“You cannot call 911 and have the fire department come to your house and give you the vaccine. To find out where you can receive the vaccine, please talk to your medical care provider,” a news release said, adding that people should visit vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov.
