A quick look around our state at 5 p.m. Monday, I found that the warmest city was right here in Vancouver at 85 degrees for a high. In fact, it was the only location that was in the 80s, even in Central and Eastern Washington. Thanks to a flow of east winds out of the Gorge.
The east winds continued clear to the coast where it was 80 degrees on the Long Beach Peninsula. Real clear blue skies everywhere. Another repeat today but it will be warmer locally, into the mid-80s, with continued easterly winds. A nice day at the beach, too.
Expect fair weather locally all week. We will see some high-level smoke from the large wildfires in California, which may cause hazy sunshine by Thursday. Smoke from nearby fires may only drift a few miles downslope as they begin a slow dry-out. Possible rekindling perhaps but no smoke like we had.
The coastal beaches will have some marine air seep in after midweek with the afternoon sea breeze cooling things off. By the weekend we could see more low clouds and cooler temperatures as some of this moist air seeps inland. Meanwhile, I see no rain for the next week or so. Some forecast charts indicate maybe next week but that may be the computer’s wishful thinking.
