A pedestrian was seriously injured Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in Vancouver’s East Mill Plain neighborhood.

Vancouver police did not identify the pedestrian but said they are expected to survive.

Officers responded about 8:40 p.m. for an injury traffic crash at 16200 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd.

Call notes say the pedestrian was crossing midblock when they were struck. The driver did not see the pedestrian and could not stop in time, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.

The driver, who was not identified, stayed on scene. There was no evidence of impairment.

The traffic unit is investigating.
