Meals on Wheels People suspended its meal delivery service to homebound seniors today due to poor air quality.
The nonprofit said it wanted to limit smoke exposure for both volunteers and participants. Staff will call homebound participants and instruct them to eat one of the meals delivered last week.
“We want to ensure the safety of both our clients and our volunteers,” Meals on Wheels People Executive Director Suzanne Washington said in a news release. “All of our meal recipients have been receiving supplemental food since the beginning of the pandemic in case of an event such as this. We will call all of them to ensure that they are safe and remind them to eat one of the meals we provided.”
