Local law enforcement arrested a suspect Friday evening in a fatal Sept. 2 hit-and-run.

Harley Anderson, 21, was booked at the Clark County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run and driving while license suspended in the third degree.

At 8:25 p.m. Friday, Clark County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a stolen vehicle in progress call and stopped the car at the intersection of Northeast 29th Avenue and Northeast 170th Street. Anderson was identified as the passenger in the vehicle and arrested.

Anderson is linked to a hit-and-run crash that killed 56-year-old Thomas Sawyer at the corner of East Mill Plain and Grand boulevards on Sept. 2. When first responders arrived, they found Sawyer on the ground and the suspect’s vehicle gone. Officers later located the GMC Envoy SUV.

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that Sawyer died of multiple blunt force trauma, and that his death was an accident.

The investigation is ongoing, according to a media release from the Vancouver Police Department.
