A pedestrian killed Sept. 2 in a hit-and-run crash in Vancouver has been identified as 56-year-old Thomas Sawyer.

The Vancouver man died of multiple blunt-force trauma, and the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death an accident.

The suspect driver has not yet been arrested or located, Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said Tuesday.

Vancouver police were called at 6:42 p.m. to East Mill Plain and Grand boulevards. There, they found Sawyer down and the suspect vehicle gone, according to a police department news release.

Based on a photo taken at the scene, officers began looking for a silver or light tan GMC Envoy SUV, believed to have damage to the right front, police said. Officers later located the vehicle.

Detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Vancouver Police Traffic Officer Block at 360-869-6800.
