The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission and NW Natural announced an increase in the cost of natural gas.

The average customer in Southwest Washington using 57 therms a month will see their bill increase by 8.4 percent or about $4.53 a month. The average monthly bill will be about $58.71.

Higher gas market prices and the ending of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act tax credits are causing the rate to increase, according to a news release from the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission.

NW Natural provides natural gas to about 86,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Southwest Washington.
