Strong turnout among early voters in the Nov. 3 election continued Wednesday, with the Clark County Elections Office reporting 22,995 new returned ballots in its daily morning update.
The new ballots bring the county’s early voting total to 23.8 percent, with 13 days to go until Election Day. The county has also added around 4,000 new registered voters since ballots shipped on Oct. 16, bringing the total number of eligible voters up to 320,108.
Those numbers are unprecedented, according to Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey.
In 2016, voter turnout this far ahead of the election was 14.6 percent. In 2012, it was 17.4 percent; in 2008, just 9.8 percent.
Clark County residents can still register to vote online or via mail until Oct. 26, or in person at the elections office until 8 p.m. on Election Day.
