The Washougal Police Department is asking for the public’s help to solve a homicide there from this summer.

Police are working with Crime Stoppers of Oregon to investigate the death of Sandra Ladd, 71, who was found in her residence on June 14.

Emergency responders found Ladd dead shortly after 4:30 p.m. in her home on the 1900 block of 41st Street.

The Clark County medical examiner determined that Ladd died of stab wounds to the torso, according to the police department. The medical examiner listed her manner of death as homicide.

No arrests were made, but investigators said at the time that there was no threat to the public. A month later, the police department reported that it had no updates on the case.

Ladd worked at a Burgerville in east Vancouver from 1996 until earlier this year, when the company furloughed employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Camas-Washougal Post Record.

Ladd’s other career, working as an administrative assistant and receptionist for the Washougal School District, lasted from 1987 until 2015. During that time, she worked at Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School and assisted with the school district’s special services and summer meal programs. Ladd also was active with Washington’s Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, which trains classified staff members around the state, the Post Record reported.

“After leaving Washougal schools, she continued to work at Burgerville in east Vancouver and loved running into former colleagues, students and friends,” Washougal School District Superintendent Mary Templeton told the newspaper. “She cared deeply for those she served and worked with. Sandy’s work made a difference in the lives of others, and she worked hard to do what was right in each situation.”

Crime Stoppers of Oregon offers cash rewards of up to $2,500 for information reported to the organization that leads to an arrest in any unsolved felony crime. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
