ESTHER SHORT — Family shelter Open House Ministries, 900 W. 12th St., raised $61,615 during Give More 24!, a day dedicated to fundraising for nonprofit organizations across Southwest Washington on Sept. 24. That was 50 percent more than the goal of $40,000. Like most other organizations, Open House Ministries has taken most of its events virtual due to the pandemic. The annual block party has been postponed until it is safe again. “Until then, we are slowly opening our bike shop, and thrift store, Secondhand Solutions, with scheduled donation drop-offs and require shoppers to wear masks and social distance,” said Jean LaCrosse, donor relations officer. Our organization is very grateful to all of our donors and the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington.” Learn more about the organization at www.sheltered.org.
