The Interstate 5 Bridge trunnion replacement project is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, according to a press release from the Oregon Department of Transportation. The project involves replacing a cracked axle at the top of the northbound bridge’s south tower, along with other lift span components.

The most visible portion of the project wrapped up in late September when the northbound span reopened after a weeklong closure, during which I-5 traffic in both directions had to share the southbound span. Crews have continued working on the final stages of the project during the past three weeks, resulting in occasional nighttime lane closures and extra bridge lifts. Those impacts are expected to continue through tonight and then end when the project officially wraps up Saturday morning.
