Weekly COVID-19 case tally holds steady, weekly death rate falls in Clark County

Data shows county has added 1,265 new cases, 13 deaths since late August

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Clark County held steady this week and the rate of deaths eased in the latest public health data.

Clark County recorded 23 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the weekly total to 251 cases — just one more case than the previous week. The county averaged about 36 new cases per day this week, according to data from Clark County Public Health.

No new deaths were reported from COVID-19 on Friday. Two new deaths were reported this week, both on Wednesday. Five deaths were reported in the previous week.

The county has recorded 3,799 COVID-19 cases and 62 deaths by COVID-19 as of Friday.

Weekly case counts have been increasing since late August, from 149 cases in the seven days ending Aug. 28. Since the end of August, the county has added 1,265 new cases and 13 new deaths.

There were 25 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Clark County on Friday and five people hospitalized awaiting test results, according to Public Health, which reported that 70.4 percent of the county’s hospital beds are currently occupied, with 4.8 percent of those beds occupied by COVID-19 patients or people hospitalized awaiting test results.

The number of active cases held steady at 169. That statistic measures confirmed COVID-19 cases still within their isolation period.
