Clark County’s increased pace of new COVID-19 cases held steady this weekend, with 108 new cases and no new deaths reported since Friday, according to Clark County Public Health.

The new cases work out to an average of 36 per day since Friday, about the same rate for all of last week, according to Public Health data.

The county has recorded 3,656 positive COVID-19 individuals and 60 deaths since the first case was reported March 7. The most recent death was reported Friday, capping off a week with five COVID-19 fatalities.

There are 29 people hospitalized in Clark County with COVID-19 and 11 hospitalized awaiting test results. The county’s number of active cases, which only tracks positive cases within a 10-day isolation period, was 134 on Monday.

The average number of cases has increased steadily since just before Labor Day, with an average of 21.28 cases per day in the week ended Aug. 28, according to Public Health data.

That average rose to about 25 to 26 cases per day in the three weeks that followed before rising to about 32 cases per day in the week ending Sept. 25 and about 36 cases per day in the week that ended on Oct. 2.

The increasing case totals boosted the county’s activity rate into the “high” category for school reopening. The next update on activity level is expected Tuesday.
