Clark County sets a record with new COVID-19 cases over weekend

Clark County recorded the largest number of new COVID-19 cases ever for a weekend today, with 127 new cases since Friday, according to Clark County Public Health.

The new cases bring the county’s total number of verified COVID-19 cases to 3,425. No new deaths from COVID-19 have been reported since Sept. 23, leaving the total at 55 COVID-19 deaths to date, according to Public Health data.

Vancouver man killed in I-5 crash near Ridgefield

A Vancouver man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Ridgefield, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A WSP bulletin said Corey S. Bradbury, 34, was driving south in the left lane at milepost 15 at about 3:30 p.m. when his 2018 Subaru Forester drifted off the left shoulder, corrected and then crossed all lanes and left the roadway, striking a fence and coming to rest in a field.

Vancouver teen, 16, found after more than 24 hours in St. Helens’ wilderness

Anthony Mancuso, a Vancouver teen who was missing for more than 24 hours after going on a hike with family, was found by searchers around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

He is alive and is walking out with searchers, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.

Employee at Vancouver senior living facility faces indecent liberties allegation

An employee at a Vancouver senior living facility that specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia care faces an allegation of indecent liberties after he was discovered partly disrobed and exposed in a patient’s room.

Mahgum Eric Thorson, 47, made an initial appearance Tuesday morning in Clark County Superior Court. Judge David Gregerson set Thorson’s bail at $40,000. An arraignment hearing was scheduled for Oct. 7.

City removes large trash pile from northeast Vancouver street

City workers hauled out a large amount of waste Thursday from a dead-end street in northeast Vancouver that is being used as a homeless camp.

Northeast 51st Street, behind a 7-Eleven, is a short cul-de-sac with no homes. People have been using the spot as a campsite for at least several months, if not longer.
