Vancouver police are investigating a Friday evening shooting in the parking lot of an east Vancouver shopping center.

The shooting occurred at 5:30 p.m. at 18801 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., according to dispatch records. Police were dispatched to a report of a disturbance with weapons and a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Details about the victim’s identity or condition were not immediately available.

The shooting may have stemmed from a conflict at the parking lot that served the former J.C. Penney store and a Lowe’s home improvement store.

Both the victim and a suspect in the shooting were still at the scene, according to emergency radio traffic. A vehicle possibly related to the shooting fled the scene and is being sought by local law enforcement.

The case is being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit.
