Clark Public Utilities announced last week that it would distribute grants of up to $500 to customers with outstanding balances on their utility bills during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding comes from the federal CARES Act via Clark County.
Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Qualifying customers must have an active utility account with a balance of 30 or more days past due, and it must be a result of financial hardship stemming from the pandemic. Customers can apply online from their account page at clarkpublicutilities.com.
Clark Public Utilities announced Tuesday that it had distributed $1.45 million to 4,844 customers in the first four days after the grants became available, prompting the county to provide an additional $2 million in funding to be distributed by the end of the month.
