Vancouver police say a food delivery driver was arrested Thursday night for allegedly pointing a gun at a resident who lives at an apartment complex, where he was trying to gain entry.

William E. Neidigh, 60, was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault. Court records show he is scheduled to make an initial appearance this morning in Clark County Superior Court.

Officers were dispatched at 10:36 p.m. to the Walnut Grove Landing apartments, 4701 N.E. 72nd Ave., for a report of a disturbance involving a gun near the entrance to the complex.

The victim told police he had argued with Neidigh, who was delivering food to the address, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.

According to the victim, Neidigh didn’t have a code to get inside the apartment gate and was blocking the driveway. The victim reported that Neidigh approached him and became argumentative “when he asked him to hurry,” Kapp said.

The resident exited his vehicle, walked to the gate keypad and started entering the code. Then, he heard Neidigh make some more comments and turned around; Neidigh was pointing a handgun at him, according to police.

The victim retreated to his vehicle. Neidigh fled the area. Police were able to identify Neidigh and located him at his home, where he was arrested by Clark County sheriff’s deputies.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, Kapp said.
