Blaze destroys shop in rural Clark County

A fire destroyed a shop Tuesday night in rural Clark County.

Clark County Fire District 10 crews were dispatched at 10:35 p.m. to the 11300 block of Northeast 359th Street, between La Center and Amboy.

The first arriving crew found a fully involved 2,400-square-foot shop, Capt. Ben Goble said.

The crews were assisted by Clark County Fire District 13 and Clark County Fire & Rescue, but the blaze resulted in the total loss of the shop, Fire District 10 Assistant Chief Gordon Brooks said.

It took firefighters about one hour to get the blaze under control and roughly five hours for total extinguishment, Goble said.

The shop is in a rural area of the county, and the nearest fire hydrant is more than a mile away, so several water tenders were used during the response, Goble said.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
