All-Region girls basketball player Faith Bergstrom of Camas has verbally committed to play basketball for Cal Poly.
The 6-foot-2 junior announced her decision Friday on social media.
“I’m excited to say that I’ve verbally committed to Cal Poly,” Bergstrom posted. “I’m super appreciative of all the opportunities I’ve been giving along the way, and I want to thank everyone who’s help me — friends, family, teachers and coaches.”
Bergstrom chose Cal Poly over offers from UC San Diego, Montana, Harvard and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Bergstrom averaged 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds a game for the Papermakers, who reached the 4A state tournament. She shot 56 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line.
“Thanks to Ashley Corral and Kevan West forworking with me over the past five years because I absolutely would not be where I am today without them,” Bergstrom said. “Also (thanks) to all the coaches who I’ve worked with throughout the years, who have pushed me and help me grow. Thanks to my family for supporting me and driving me to all the tournaments over the years.
“Finally, thanks to Coach Faith (Mimnaugh) and the whole Cal Poly team for this opportunity.”
