Vancouver-based Banfield Pet Hospital held a survey of more than 1,000 pet owners in the country: The company found that 84 percent of the owners feel more attuned to their pet’s health during the pandemic, and 67 percent plan on changing how they care for their pet.
The survey suggests that being in quarantine with pets “may have lasting effects on how people approach pet ownership,” according to a news release from Banfield.
The survey also found that 44 percent feel they are more responsible and attentive to their pets because of quarantine.
Banfield’s telehealth service, called Vet Chat, has seen a 90 percent increase since early March, according to the news release.
