I mentioned here last week that a weather system would be tracking toward Puget Sound with a good share of rain on Memorial Day. The chances of measurable rain here in Vancouver were minimal but we did have some dribs and dribbles during the day with amounts on the light side.
Skies were forecast to clear late in the day so hopefully barbecues went forward one way or another. This is common here in the Northwest for three-day holiday weekends. Usually one day out of the three has rainfall.
That is a thing of the past, however, as we begin to dry and warm today and highs Wednesday through Friday will be in the 80s. Another taste of summer and we will take it, right? By the weekend we will see clouds increase and the humidity will go up. Muggy maybe? There is an outside chance of a scattered thunderstorm or light showers. Or if the odds favor, just a cloudy weekend and no rain.
Stay tuned.
One year ago today, I had these words to say in my column, “The definition of ‘pesky’ is annoying, troublesome and vexatious. It is a weather person’s worst nightmare. I used that term to describe the low-pressure system dropping down from British Columbia over the long holiday weekend. Just as luck would have it, we had two weather systems to annoy us this holiday.”
