Local nonprofit groups that register this year for Give More 24!, an annual day of online giving, don’t have to pay any participation fees.
The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington waived fees for the 24-hour giving spree happening Sept. 24. Give More 24! has occurred for the last six years, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed the foundation’s planning.
“After many conversations with local nonprofits, we understand the need is great. As nonprofits experience rising demand due to increased need, they’ve also had to cancel events to slow the spread of COVID-19,” Jennifer Rhoads, president of the Community Foundation, said in a news release. “Raising necessary funds to help with programming and day-to-day operations has never been more important for our local nonprofit sector.”
Typically, there are community events throughout the day to encourage giving. The Community Foundation said it will prioritize safety by keeping up with guidelines around large gatherings.
