ESTHER SHORT — On April 29, a truckload of 35,000 pounds of food, including green beans, oil, sugar, flower, spaghetti, pork, beans, soups, and other items was delivered to Friends in Service to Humanity, otherwise known as FISH Westside Food Pantry of Vancouver. The items were donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City. Donations will help feed “so many greater Vancouver residents who are having difficulty meeting basic needs at this time due to job loss, and for some, ongoing circumstances,” James Fitzgerald, FISH executive director, said in a news release. Due to the pandemic, FISH is distributing pre-boxed items to mitigate contact. The organization planned to distribute food boxes on May 9 at their parking lot.
