Clark College Foundation reveals award-winning alumni recipients

The Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes those who deliver exemplary service to the community and Clark College alongside personal and professional achievements. The 2019-2020 recipients are Lucy Estrada-Guzman, Alexis Madrigal, Gina Mosbrucker, Ophelia Noble and George Oberg Jr.

Gabe Foster is the 2020 recipient of the Rising Star Award, which recognizes Clark College alumni ages 35 or younger exhibiting great personal or professional achievements and service to the community.

WSU Vancouver announces five top awards

Washington State University Vancouver announced its 2020 awards for advancing equity, research, student achievement, teaching and service. The recipients are as follows:

Luz Rocio Sotomayor, senior instructor of mathematics, will receive the Chancellor’s Award for Advancing Equity in recognition of fostering a safe and welcoming environment as well as encouraging equity-mindedness throughout the campus.

Marcelo Diversi, interim academic director and professor of human development, will receive the Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence, awarded to a faculty member whose work has been exemplary and influential.

Vince Chavez, B.S., biology and neuroscience, will receive the Chancellor’s Award for Student Achievement, in recognition of academic achievement, overcoming barriers, leadership potential and involvement in campus life.

Michael C. Worthy, president and CEO of WW Payment Systems Inc. and WSU Regent will receive the Chancellor’s Award for Service to WSU Vancouver, in honor of leadership, dedication of time, talent and resources toward advancing WSU’s mission.

Andra Chastain, assistant professor of history, will receive the Students’ Award for Teaching Excellence, in recognition of instilling passion in students and committing time outside of the classroom to their welfare.
