Vancouver will keep restrooms at six of its parks open to the public, city staff announced Saturday.
The bathrooms will remain open to help the area’s population of people without homes, according to a press release. Other park facilities closed down last week in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent shelter-in-place order from Gov. Jay Inslee.
“The City is making every effort to maintain these facilities for use throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. The health and safety of our community is our top priority and we will continue to monitor the viability and safety of keeping these facilities open in accordance with public health agency guidelines and state and city emergency orders,” said Julie Hannon, Parks and Recreation director, in the press release.
Open restrooms can be found at:
• Burnt Bridge Creek Trail at Divine Road (1617 N. Devine Road)
• Esther Short Community Park (West Eighth Street and Columbia Street)
• Leroy Haagen Memorial Park (Northeast Ninth Street, west of Northeast 136th Avenue)
• Marine Community Park Boat Launch (Southeast Marine Park Way and Columbia Way)
• Marshall Community Park (1015 E. McLoughlin Blvd.)
• Vancouver Waterfront Park (695 Waterfront Way)
Operating hours for each facility are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of the bathroom at Vancouver Waterfront Park, which will remain open 24 hours a day. The restrooms will be cleaned and disinfected daily.
